Where the Wildflowers Grow with parthenopi
|
|
Parthenopi has a magical way with found plastics, turning them into beautiful blooms to tell the environmentally critical story of single use plastics. The crafted blooms will make up a series of archways creating a wonderful walkway experience for visitors to enjoy, take photos and immerse in.
The community is invited to craft their own blooms to add to the installation, collectively creating a unique visual spectacular. The community artwork will be travelling down to Currumbin Beach where it will exhibit in SWELL Kids Elements.

Lil Dusty is an infamous and well-loved character on the Gold Coast, created by local artist Dion Parker. This work is a selection and celebration of Lil Dusty in some of his many forms.
Lil Dusty has never liked being confined to a box. To be honest he’s not the most obedient dog around. I left these crates unattended for just a minute and this is what the cheeky little bugger’s got up to.

SWELL at Oasis Shopping Centre

Dion’s sculptural works, most recently have focused around featureless and mono-coloured dogs. Each dog is designed with smooth, flowing lines to create artworks that are fun and playful. Upscaled and vividly red, Lil Dusty continues to communicate with the viewer through body language. A simple stance emits a range of emotions and feelings to contemplate. It begs the question, what is running through Lil Dusty’s mind and, what or who is he looking at?

The garden of trumpet flowers is a multi sensory playground of sound and light, inviting visitors to create sound through touch and the arrangement of flowers to bloom in a colourful display of dancing light. You will feel as if you’ve shrunk as you immerse yourself in the super-sized trumpet flower garden. Experience a giant’s musical garden as 27 trumpet flowers from two to six meters tall tower over you. Visit the centre of the forest to play the massive trumpet keys and make your own spectacular floral sound and light show.
