Description
‘Emergents’ explores the intricate beauty of nature, inspired by fungi and their sporangia.
Sporangium are a vital structure in reproduction of fungi. They appear as a capsule containing spores, which mature and are released to the air. The varying height and form of the sporangia symbolize the diverse stages of growth and development found in fungi during spore formation and reproduction.
Crafted from hand-forged steel bars, the sculpture showcases sporangia rising from a stippled base. The robustness of the steel contrasts dramatically with the fragility and delicacy of the sporangia.
Materials Steel, bronze, renaissance wax
