Description
The Pixies 1988 song “Where is my mind” – is a stream of consciousness piece of writing, but also indicates a greater motive behind the lyrics. Frank Black’s lyric about a fish trying to talk to him in the Caribbean, alludes to the idea of the connection between all things – consciousness realising itself through many forms. Hickson suggests this connection requires our cooperation with nature rather than our domination of it. The sculpture, although figurative, could be botanical, human or animal, blurring this separation.
