Description
Chainsaw Newtons art-making differs from most.
His stubborn refusal to use new materials results in him reclaiming wood and tree stumps, his woodworking tools are sourced from local garage sales or Grandpa sheds.
He names his chainsaws, ostensibly to keep track of which one needs sharpening, or repairs.
“There’s satisfaction in fixing and rescuing old chainsaws, once I get them running well, I christen them with an alphabetical name.
Allice and Cindy got taken by the 2022 flood, Bertha is my go-to girl and the neighbours all hate Denise.

About Chainsaw Newton
You don’t often hear of self-taught chainsaw wood-carvers.
If you have, you’ve probably already met Chainsaw Newton.
As talented with reclaimed wood as he is loquacious with words,
his talent for repurposing timbers and tools to express himself is a real treat.
Drawing inspiration from his locality on the Northern rivers of NSW it is easy to see his passion for nature and his quirky humour expressed in his many works.
