Driven by an innate passion to create, Elizabeth O’Connor explores the boundaries of colour, form and texture through a juxtaposition of mediums to create work that intrigues, engages and enriches any space it occupies. Her art is informed by past experiences working across commercial interiors and fashion, along with her love of contemporary architecture and well considered, minimalist design. Sometimes adopting an aleatoric approach, Elizabeth immerses herself wholeheartedly in the action, allowing chance to form a preponderant share in her creative process. Colour is Elizabeth O’Connor’s absolute obsession.

About the Artist
Elizabeth O’Connor’s diverse and explorative creative practice navigates painting, collage, sculpture and fashion. Holding a BA Visual Arts and utilising a medley of surfaces as her playground, Elizabeth’s abstract works are fuelled by experimentation. Colour, form and texture are her foundational elements. Elizabeth’s sculptural journey embraces the mesmerising allure of transformation, where ordinary metamorphoses into extraordinary. Fascinated by a seemingly insignificant object (paper), she explores its humble existence. Within the folds an unpretentious aesthetic lies concealed. Using the force of her body weight, she coaxes the metal sheet to surrender its two-dimensional rigidity, hand guiding it into the realm of multidimensionality by crumpling and folding to reveal an alluring three-dimensional embodiment of bold, minimalist form. Each intricate crinkle and contour suggests its own whispered narrative–an invitation for the viewer to engage with the work and witness the silent dialogue between form and function, chaos and order, fragility and resilience.
