Description

A Sense of Place is inspired by an excursion down the Burnett River (Burral Burral). During this excursion, various manmade objects that caught the eye were collected. The location where each object was found was photographed. Later, hand-drawn recreations of the environment were created in pen. The artwork itself represents the discovery of a sense of place at the river.

About the Artist

Kate Le Mesurier is an emerging multimedia artist working across 2D and 3D mediums, with a foundation in traditional drawing on paper. Their practice draws inspiration from “bower bird activity,” collecting discarded manmade objects based on colour, texture, and their inherent unnatural sense. This approach, coupled with spontaneous hyper-fixations inspired by pop culture and fan art, fuels their exploration and development of a unique and personal art style.
