About Lou Goggin
Lou Goggin grew up by the ocean and became a marine biologist before finding her love of clay. She’s now been playing with clay for more than 30 years, becoming a full-time ceramic artist four years ago.
Her pieces celebrate our natural world, hoping to inspire others to cherish and protect the only planet we have.
Lou mainly uses porcelain clay, often combined with other natural materials in her work which is sometimes handbuilt, and sometimes thrown or cast. It usually has texture.
Lou won the Common Ground Print Prize (2022) and was a finalist in the North Coast Ceramics Inaugural Award (2024), Ingenuity Small Sculpture Prize (2022, 2023) and CAQ Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence (2021).
She has a Diploma of Ceramics, Certificate IV in Design and PhD in marine biology.
