Description
Scarlett creates oddities, combining organisms to construct her own species. These creatures come to life after experiencing, documenting, and collecting elements from nature. She zooms in through a photographic lens, capturing microscopic elements; the tepal of a grevillea or tentacles of a sea-anemone. Simultaneously there is a physical process of collecting happening in nature and at second-hand shops, gathering and categorising organic, textile and unique objects. These collected segments are stitched and glued together, with attention to detail, creating a creature of the unknown that retains the truth of nature.
