Description
Amelia’s sculptural works focus on the misjudged and not so popular feathered friends. Finding the beauty in the unsightly, hideous, frightful and unloved. The Brush Turkey is an Australian Aboriginal Totem ‘Wagun’ that dates back 30 million years. The Turkey nest is composted for warmth and heat tested by the inside of the adult’s mouth or beak to an accurate 33 degrees. Their egg incubation process, dumping them in a mound and abandoning them, is an extraordinarily primitive nesting behaviour, which is closer to a crocodile than a normal bird.
Materials Hand-made clay, leaves, twigs, wire, paintbrush, beads, tissue, lamp base and light.
