About the Artist

Colleen Lavender is a multifaceted Sculptor working between public art, private collections, selected sculpture exhibitions and commercial sculpture. Her favourite medium is steel, old and weathered or pristine, both cut to perfection by hand with a plasma cutter in her Queensland Studio. In 2018 Colleen’s 10m x 2.4m steel light box story boards were unveiled at Kooralbyn Ramada resort during the ‘Fires On Top Of Mountains’ shared community project, as part of Commonwealth Games celebrations in the South East Queensland Scenic Rim. Beaudesert now hosts these exquisite story boards as an entrance statement, along with ‘Angels of Agriculture’, paying homage to local bee man, Norman Rice (Beaudesert History Museum). Her other public pieces dot Boonah, Canungra and Mt Tamborine. 2023 saw Colleen take home the esteemed Indigenous Artist Award with her sculpture, ‘Glide’, at the SWELL Sculpture Festival and in 2024 Colleen presented ‘Breaking Chains’.
