About the Artist
Throughout a long career as a designer and academic of communication design, Irene often finds refuge in the practice of arts and crafts. She is currently involved in various artistic endeavours, including the beautification of the Woodford Folk Festival. The ocean and Queensland’s unique natural environment inspire and inform her work. Fascinated by detail, she strives to recreate the wonder of small things in nature that are easily overlooked. Irene believes in the transformative power of art to ignite conversations and raise awareness around environmental conservation. Through her creative endeavours, she seeks to ignite the spark of imagination and foster a deeper connection with the world we inhabit. Irene’s work is a mixture of functional ware and whimsical sculpture forms.
