Description
While enjoying a daily black coffee, the artist became transfixed with the idea of capturing and recreating the movement of poured coffee using a typically rigid material, steel. This piece is hand-forged from Corten steel plate into the shape of a coffee cup. Each individual droplet has been formed, welded, ground and textured. A very specific style of coffee pot was sourced to ensure the “pouring” was visible from grounds to the cup to enhance the feeling of moving liquid. This is “Metal in Motion”.
Materials Corten steel on a timber base, coffee pot is glass and the cup is ceramic
Measurements (mm) H 360 W 360 L 250

About the Artist
Sculpture has been an artistic passion for Kevin since 1972. As he journeyed through life, exploring the different types of materials, three materials intrigued him the most. His first love is metal. Now stone has caught his fancy since about 2006. Combining these mediums into projects is fun and challenging at the same time! Kevin believes that metal and stone sculpting is a hand crafted art form, not a hobby. No laser cutting here. Faults, defects and blemishes are part of the “human” that goes into making it. It reflects the artist himself. With Kevin, what you will find is imagination, unique, thought provoking art and, yes, faults, defects and blemishes.
