Description
Much of Laura’s work is speculative story of a post-human world, where artefacts are repurposed and carcasses are inhabited, as life responds to a different set of ecological parameters. in this unafraid new world, the ‘aim’ of evolution is to contribute to community, create self-loving mythology and lean gently into nature. Responding to the fluctuating feelings of connection and disconnection that political and environmental climates elicit, Laura’s work is functional and optimistic, reminding us that we are nature, that hiding can be healing, that engaging can be empowering.

About the Artist
Laura is a self-taught, hand-building ceramicist using repeated motifs & easily digestible simplified forms. It is always domestically functional, & carries a strong fictional narrative. The open & slow postures and ‘new to this world but learning’ attitude of her figurative sculptures intentionally refuse disconnection & the current mainstream media-driven ideals of ‘cruel is cool, fast is first’.
