Description
Scrambling across the coastal fringe from Port Macquarie northwards, the Pandanus palm is an important character in the story of the work – with its unruly foliage, phallic roots clinging to rock or suspended in mid-air, and its spiralling trunk of knobbly scars that mark moments in time and a lifetime of exposure to the elements. The work explores and celebrates the textures, forms, colours and rhythms influenced by the convergence of the elemental energies of earth, water, fire and wind. Both, evocative and a metaphor.
